Dominican Tourism Minister Felix Jimenez said that actor-director Robert De Niro will invest in local tourism, in Pedernales (southwest) or Montecristi (northwest), and will join the group of boldface names who have already realized hotel investments in the country.
He said Mr. De Niro told him of those plans in a recent visit to New York, where attended work meetings. “They come here to create their second home,” beamed Minister Jimenez, who said he invited the Hollywood movie star to choose the Dominican Republic as a suitable place to establish a vacation or summer home.
He said the Tourism Ministry’s strategy promotes investments in vacation zones for groups or personalities from around the world could establish tourism-based businesses.
