RIU Hotels to Open Two New Resorts in the Caribbean

RIU Hotels, the Spanish company, will open a couple of five-star, all-inclusive lodging facilities in the first half of 2006. The new additions are the RIU Palace Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic and Mexico´s RIU Palace Mayan Riviera.

The two establishment underscore the maturity of the Palace trademark, created by architect Luis Andino in 1989 with the grand opening of the Palace Maspalomas Hotel in Grand Canary Island, Spain.

The Maspalomas was labeled the world´s best hotel back in 1994 and 1999.

The Palace resorts are four-star or five-star resorts built to resemble palaces and designed to provide the best quality service money can buy.

Today, RIU Hotels owns nearly two dozen establishments and 14 Palace-style lodgings in the Caribbean. Another addition in the offing is the RIU Palace Algarve, also scheduled for 2006.

The company now runs the RIU Palace Macao (Dominican Republic) and the RIU Palace Mexico, RIU Palace Cabo San Lucas and RIU Palace Las Americas, the three of them in Mexico.
