RIU’s Plans for New Mexico, Costa Rica Properties Still on Schedule

RIU Hotels & Resorts, the Spain-based resort company, will open two new all-inclusive beachfront resorts: RIU Emerald Bay in Mazatlan, Mexico, which opened May 29, and RIU Guanacaste in Costa Rica, opening this Fall.

RIU opened five new resorts in 2008 and will open a total of seven resorts in 2009. Every year, RIU forks over an estimated $45 million in maintaining and updating its hotels.
