Reef Clean up in Jamaica

Kingston._ The environmental group at Beaches Royal Plantation “Earth Watch” is carrying out a massive reef clean up exercise (June 5 and June 8) in the Pineapple Area of Ocho Rios, Jamaica, in recognition of World Environment and World Oceans Day.

There’s also a plan to install additional moorings so as to reduce or eliminate the destruction of the 10-kilometer coral reef as snorkeling and other watersports are prime tourist activities in this Jamaican destination. Daniel Duncan, Watersports supervisor at the resort said that the improper disposal of garbage and other debris in the vicinity of the white river has contributed to the deplorable condition that now exists.
