Radisson Blu Opens in Moscow
The Radisson Blu Royal Moscow has opened following a three-year renovation of the former Hotel Ukraina. The 506-room hotel is housed in one of Moscow’s “Seven Sisters” skyscrapers built between 1949 and 1957, said hotel operator Rezidor. The building, which also houses 38 serviced apartments, combines Russian Baroque and Gothic architecture.
Hotel interiors feature restored ceiling frescoes and murals as well as over 1,200 original works by Russian artists from the first half of the 20th century. On the ground floor, a 1977 diorama titled “Moscow: the capital of the USSR” presents a 1,312-square-foot, scaled representation of the historical center of the capital city.
Accommodations feature midcentury Russian furniture and architecture, bath amenities by Penhaligon’s, Frette robes and complimentary high-speed Internet. The Radisson Blu Royal Moscow has five restaurants, including the Tatler Club, an international fusion restaurant created by chef Arkady Novikov, a Russian restaurateur with over 40 restaurants to his name.
Veranda serves contemporary Mediterranean cuisine, Farsi offers an Iranian menu, Bono serves Italian and Takasa features Japanese fare. The hotel also offers culinary boat tours on the Moskva River. The hotel owns a small fleet of river yachts that can be reserved for two-hour, private excursions through Moscow.
Other hotel amenities include an 11,000-square-foot spa and fitness center; a 3,000-volume library featuring literary works, guidebooks and dictionaries in a number of languages; and meetings space that can accommodate more than 1,000 guests. The hotel is the third Radisson Blu in Russia. The others are in St. Petersburg and Sochi.
