Radio to Jump on the Front Burner
The relevance of fresh, entertaining and smart radio productions, along with the need to share experiences related to the radio work throughout the country, are the two premises championed by the 24th “Antonio Lloga in memoriam” Young Radio National Workshop and Contest.

The oldest event sponsored by the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS is the Spanish acronym) is going to take place in Santiago de Cuba, September 24 - 28. The program of activities was defined during a meeting held by the organizing committee at the AHS’ provincial head office: the listening and debating of the competing works is scheduled for Thursday 25 and Friday 26.
Just like every year, the studio theater of the provincial CMKC Radio Revolución radio station will be hosting the theoretical sessions, which include a research on the 25 anniversary of “Lloga in memoriam” as a creativity and experimentation space, a study that was awarded with a “El reino de este mundo” scholarship in 2013. The meeting with the National Radio Board is set to be carried out within the framework of this event in order to fulfill one of the agreements taken during the 2nd Congress of the Hermanos Saíz Association, in Havana.
A visit to Granjita Siboney is also included in the schedule, as well as a tour around the Santiago capital and a visit to San Luis municipality to pay tribute to Félix Benjamín Caignet Salomón. An original work created by his great nephew, Ernesto Parrado Caignet, and Yusnel Castellanos Vidal, the sculpture is sited on the intersection of Coronel Chávez and Carretera Santiago streets.
Following the tradition, the attendees will have the opportunity to talk to the Lloga Domínguez family. The radio meeting will come to an end with a concert by singer-songwriter Raúl Paz right in front of the Emilio Bacardí Museum, where he is going to launch pieces of his tenth CD entitled Ven, ven.
The jury will be made up of Caridad Martínez and Iván Pérez, from Radio Progreso. Other members are Eric Caraballoso, Radio Siboney; Salvador Virgilí, CMKC; and young journalist Dayron Chang Arranz, who was given the Grand Lloga Award in 2013 for his work City Sounds: A Signal from Santiago de Cuba the Unites the Links of Cadena Oriental, which included 7 radio-documentaries.
The “Antonio Lloga in memoriam” National Radio Workshop and Contest has become the perfect space for young broadcasting to play a leading role. Founded in 1988 by Silvio Fonseca and Eliades Acosta Matos, it fosters scientific meetings and represents an awarding circuit for scripts, phrase, performance, recording, setting to music and program direction.
