Puerto Rico’s Rio Mar Completes Remodeling Project on Casino

Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa, a Wyndham Grand Resort in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, reopened its 7,000-square-foot casino following completion of a $5 million expansion and remodeling project.

The work included the addition of 180 slot machines and 12 gaming tables; a bar with five 50-inch plasma TVs; and new carpeting, chairs and tables. The casino features black jack, roulette and three-card, Caribbean Stud and Texas Hold ‘Em poker.

Mark Stevenson, Rio Mar’s managing director, said the casino is “the most technologically advanced in Puerto Rico.”

Guests of the Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa and its sister property, the Sheraton Old San Juan Casino, can use membership privileges in either property. New casino director at the Rio Mar is George Jacobs, former casino director for the Ponce Hilton in Puerto Rico.

In addition to the casino, the Rio Mar resort features 48,000 square feet of meeting spaces, two 18-hole golf courses, a 7,000-square-foot spa and fitness center, 11 restaurants and entertainment venues, a tennis center, a water sports center, and two beachfront pools.
