Programs on ecological tourism score big in the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo._ European and Canadian tourists, among all travelers visiting the Dominican Republic every year, are the ones more keenly inclined to the ecological-tourism activities the country has to offer.

The Caribbean nation sports protected areas embracing 14 national parks and 9 scientific reserves that comprise roughly 12% of the national territory.

Among those areas, the national parks of Isla Cabritos and Enriquillo Lake (southwest), Los Haitises (northwest), Jaragua (southwest), Ebano Verde (north) and Salto de Aguas Blancas (Central Mountain Range) are standing cases in point.
