Poll on Vincent Vanderpool, major candidate to the post of CTO Secretary-General, beginning in this issue

Vincent Vanderpool, Bahamas´s tourism director, has been appointed the main candidate to take over the presidency of the CTO. Caribbean News Digital has learned about some of his ideas and projects from an exclusive interview with him that was posted recently. Now our newsletter is publishing, from this issue onward (right column) a poll on this particular issue.

In search of interesting opinions, CND made a preliminary survey with some of the boldface names in the Caribbean travel industry. That´s the case of Luis Simo, Dominican deputy minister of tourism. This is what he had to say:

“Vincent Vanderpool could be a good secretary-general of the CTO. He´s a very intelligent and smart man who knows how to put benefits on his side of the court. Now we must hope that from the CTO, if he were elected, he could put those same benefits on the region´s side.”

For his part, James R. Hepple, Curacao´s tourism director, put it this way: “I´ve known Vanderpool for a long time, we´ve worked together in the Bahamas. The ideas he´s planning to implement within the organization for the new term are excellent. I think we could reach a final decision really soon and it´s going to bear watching. I think he´s going to be the winner.”

A similarly positive answer was uttered by Warren Solomon, tourism director of Trinidad & Tobago, who considers Vanderpool “an excellent professional who´s constantly looking for solutions and ideas to foster tourism in the region.

His presence in the Bahamian travel industry has been pretty good because he´s a man of innovative ideas, a person who really feels and lives for tourism, someone who wants simply the best for the region.”
