Packyourbags Offers New BA Flights to Mexico's Cancun

Cheap holidays operator Packyourbags has just started selling holidays to Mexico using BA’s new twice weekly service from Gatwick to Cancun. The holiday resort of Cancun and its surrounding destinations and islands have always been a popular destination, but it is increasingly so with British Airways launching a new twice weekly service from Gatwick to Cancun, a service which is set to increase to three flights per week from March 26, 2011.

This new route to one of Mexico’s most popular regions for UK visitors, is a great coupe for The Cancun Convention and Visitors Bureau, who earlier this year launched a new marketing campaign called Cancun and the Treasure’s of the Caribbean; which is highlighting Cancun as a grand, diverse destination that offers visitors a variety of options such as fashion, adventure, ecological tours, gastronomy and its beautiful coastline and sandy beaches.

This latest marketing campaign sees The Cancun Convention and Visitors Bureau focusing on not just the resort of Cancun, which has recently undergone a restoration project giving Cancun’s beaches a new lease of life, but also promotes other beautiful areas such as the nearby islands of Holbox, Isla Mujeres, Cozumel, Contoy and the seaside fishing village of Puerto Morelos. Now all these areas will come together under one umbrella as Cancun - one of the country’s most significant tourism destinations.

BA’s Cancun flights were launched on Nov. 3, 2010, operating Boeing 777 on Wednesdays and Saturdays, which also feature BA’s Club World’s flat beds.

The increase in flights also mirrors a recent report published by ABTA, showing that the whole of Mexico has experienced a healthy increase in visitor numbers this year with a 17 percent year-on-year uplift for the period January to June 2010”.
