At the twelfth Entrepreneur Awards, organized by Ernst & Young in collaboration with IESE, Vocento and Fortis, the chairman of the Piñero Group (Soltour, Bahía Príncipe Clubs and Resorts and Hoteles Piñero) received the national 2007 Entrepreneur award for Internationalization.

On November 20 last year, Pablo Piñero was named best entrepreneur of 2007 in the Balearic Islands. He was accompanied at the act by all his family, by the main directors of the Piñero Group, and by representatives of the island’s employers, institutions and companies, in addition to the companies that organized the event. This recognition gave him the chance to take part in the national award, which was held yesterday.

The chairman of Piñero Group expressed his satisfaction and contentment with the award, which is an acknowledgement of the Group’s business expansion. Piñero Group is one of the leading groups in the Spanish tourism sector and the market’s only independent wholesaler.

The group, which was founded in 1975, comprises the companies Soltour (which acts as a tour operator in Spain, Portugal and Russia), Piñero Hotels (local hotels), Bahia Principe Clubs & Resorts (hotel chain with establishments in Spain and the Caribbean), Sol Bus (land tourism transport company in the Caribbean) and the new Bahia Principe Golf Residencial real estate division. It has four hotel establishments on Majorca and 18 luxury resorts in the Caribbean and on Tenerife, with a total of 10,500 rooms that operate according to the all-inclusive system.

The Entrepreneur of the Year Award, established by Ernst & Young in collaboration with IESE, Vocento and Fortis is public recognition of business management. This is the twelfth time Spain has hosted the Entrepreneur of the Year Award, which originated in the U.S. upon the initiative of Ernst & Young twenty-two years ago and is currently held in 45 countries.
