Over 75 Tourism Professionals Internationally Certified in Belize

In its effort to develop Belize´s tourism product via the strengthening of its human resources, the Belize Tourism Training Unit reported that over 75 tourism professionals were certified for their participation in international training programs.

Their skills were enhanced in food safety manager, in hazard analysis and critical control, in intermediate baking, in food preparation and presentation, in energy conservation and plant maintenance, in accounting for the lodging industry and in hotel ownership.

Developing Belizean men and women continues to be at the forefront of the activities of the Belize Tourism Board to ensure a high degree of quality and delivery of services in this competitive global industry, the Ministry of Tourism Rodwell Ferguson pointed out in issuing the certificates.

All programs were funded by the Caribbean Regional HRD Project for Economic Competitiveness (CPEC) and courses were executed in collaboration with the Barbados Hospitality Training Institute. CPEC is a Canadian - funded initiative for the Caribbean with headquarters in St. Lucia. Its goal is to strengthen the capacity of the Caribbean Region to compete in the global economy through human resources and institutional development.
