No Travel Cancellations for Holy Week after March 11 Attacks

Major travel agencies specialized in long-haul trips indicated no cancellations for Holy Week have been reported despite the March 11 terrorist attacks in Madrid.

Representatives from Nobel Tours, Catai and Dimensiones –three outstanding tour operators- pointed out that the amount of bookings made so far for the upcoming holiday season is higher than the one logged in 2003. And they are keeping their fingers crossed that ongoing developments won’t thwart that positive trend.

Roberto Peregrin, president of wholesaler Nobel Tour-Indoriente, said his company has been off to a pretty good start in 2004 with almost 40 percent increments in the first two months from the same span of time in 2003. Mr. Peregrin went on to explain those increases are getting bigger with each passing year, especially in terms of more long-haul travel bookings for the Holy Week to star-studded destinations –like Mexico, Brazil, India and Egypt- that allow for reservations from eight to eleven days each.
