Nicaraguan Authorities Hand in Study on Travel Trails

The Nicaraguan Tourism Institute (INTUR) and the nation’s Chamber of Tourism held a workshop of presentations and consultations on a project on Nicaragua’s Travel Trails.

A press release issued by INTUR’s Publicity Department notes the event was aimed at sharing results and the progress made in the execution of the four stages of the program: Local Organization; Tourism Resources Inventory Update; Trail Dynamics, Training and Assistance, and Promotion and Marketing.

In her opening remarks, INTUR’s Vice President Leda Sanchez stressed the importance of the country’s eight developing trails for the development of that Central American nation’s leisure industry.

The trails are the Volcanoes, the Pacific Coastline, the Northern Caribbean, the Southern Caribbean, Las Haciendas, the Nicaragua Lake, the San Juan River and the Coffee Trail.

The first stage of the program zeroed in on compiling information about the routes, their sightseeing spots, public infrastructure, establishments and sites, including some natural reserves and indigenous communities.

A number of icons that will mark each and every trail was presented to the workshop’s attendants.

A collection of posters –one for every route- and maps featuring the different tourist products on the premises were unveiled, together with a multimedia CD that contains all relevant information.

In the meantime, experts believe a website will also be a useful tool in both the promotion and marketing of the trails.

The workshop wrapped up a consulting round on a project that’s been going on all across the country through a series of training courses that kicked off earlier this year.
