The expansion of NH Hotels, the Spanish chain, is reaching out to MERCOSUR nations -Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, plus Bolivia and Chile- and getting stronger in the Caribbean, said Gabriele Burgio, the company´s president and CEO.

Mr. Burgio indicated his chain has sported good growth numbers in those nations for a third year in a row, especially in Argentina, where NH Hotels has chalked up a spectacular 35.3 percent increase in the first quarter of this year.

In the case of the Caribbean, NH Hotels is not only beefing up its urban lodging segment, but also making great headway in the vacation niche with Occidental Hotels embracing 85 percent of the chain´s market.

NH is currently running several establishments in Mexico, some of them under the all-inclusive format, that were bought out by Krystal, its own affiliate, back in 2001.
