New York, Mexico City, Aeromexico Form Tourism Partnership
NYC & Company, Mexico City and Aeromexico have entered into a one-year reciprocal tourism campaign. One of the components is $399 New York-Mexico City roundtrip fares aboard Aeromexico’s 787 Dreamliner. The offer is good for tickets bought by Nov. 22 for travel through March 31, 2014.
“I’m thrilled to be able to grow more tourism opportunities between our two great destinations, and help encourage more Mexicans to visit New York City and promote the Mexico City I fell in love with to all New Yorkers,” said NYC & Company CEO George Fertitta. “From the warm, friendly people to the exquisite dining and cultural attractions, I have always found Mexico City to be one of the most wondrous and romantic destinations in the world.”
A reciprocal $250,000 “media swap” will take place through November. In Mexico City, New York promotions — in print, radio and digital media — will focus on the city’s high-energy and liveliness. In New York, 83 bus shelters will feature ads promoting travel to Mexico City. The two cities will also exchange tourism best practices’ strategies.
Mexico is New York’s ninth largest international market. NYC & Company has a promotional office in the country. Last year, 387,000 Mexicans visited New York City, a rise of 3 percent compared with 2011. They spent an average of $1,706 per person per trip for a total of $660 million.
