New system guarantees better statistical handling of Dominican tourism

A new information system is now in force in the Dominican Republic to gather data on the tourist sector and produce statistics likened to the sector’s business activity.

This new information tool will allow the Department of Tourism (SECTUR) to keep updated tabs on tourist companies and on those projects subjected to the entity’s approval. The brand-new automated resource was developed through the technical cooperation provided by the Inter American Development Bank (BID) for a final price tag of $146,000.

The system will contain a database of such tourist enterprises as hotels, restaurants, gift shops, tourist carriers, travel agencies, tour operators and others.
