New International Departure Tax to Go into Effect in Bolivia
A bill of law suggests a new International Departure Tax that could generate between $5 to $7 million, the Bolivian Deputy Minister of Tourism announced. This tax would replace ISAE tax and would be included in the price of the ticket, for national passengers as well as for foreigners leaving the country.
As much as 70 percent of the tax collection will be destined to tourist promotion and the amount could be in the neighborhood of $5 and $20. A specialist, who worked in a similar process in Peru, has been contracted for a short-term consultancy to determine the amount of such cost.
