New flights between Peru’s Cusco and Bolivia’s Sucre

Lloyd Aereo Boliviano airlines (LAB) has begun operating three weekly round-trip flights between the cities of Cusco in Peru and Bolivia’s Sucre in an effort to weld them together in one single tourist circuit.

LAB general manager Juan Carlos Cabilmonte made the announcement in a joint press conference with local and Cusco’s tour operators. Both Cusco –the former capital of the Inca Empire- and Sucre, one of Bolivia’s most historic cities, have been declared Heritage of Mankind. The former has been used to being in the limelight as it welcomes a much wider tourist flow than the Bolivian burg.

The Sucre destination is blessed with such attractions as colonial palaces and temples, let alone the celebrated House of Liberty, where the independence of Latin America was proclaimed for the first time.

Not far from there, travelers could find a valley with petrified footprints of dinosaurs, shortcuts to the picture-perfect small town of Potosi and the Salar de Uyuni, a body of water larger than the Titicaca Lake.
