New Central Security System introduced at Aruba’s International Airport

Since December 20, the Aruba Airport Authority NV (AAA) introduced a new Central Security System at the Queen Beatriz International Airport, a move that will render in higher efficiency and a much better flow in the screening of passengers and hand luggage.

The new Central Security screening means that all passengers, including those on flights to Europe, South America, the Netherlands Antilles must now be screened at TSA security screening levels. This brings about that passengers traveling to all destinations are not permitted to travel with liquids, gels, aerosols, except when packed in one clear see-through re-sealable one-quart-size plastic bag.

Duty-free items that includes liquids, gels or aerosols purchased inside the Airport Shops are allowed to be carried into the cabin of the aircraft. All other liquids, gels and aerosols may be transported in checked baggage.

For those passengers, however, transferring in the United States or European Union, duty-free items must be transported in checked baggage. The Airport has facilities in place to accommodate placement in checked baggage for passengers with a United States destination.
