New Air Route to Hook Up South America and the Middle East

Brazil’s TAM Airways and Lebanon’s Middle East Airlines announced the creation of a new commercial route between that South American nation and the Middle East scheduled to get cracking next August 17.

Representatives from both companies met with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to agree on the implementation of the new air route that will link the cities of Sao Paolo (Brazil) and Lebanon’s Beirut.

Jetliners flying on codeshare will make technical stopovers in France’s Paris. The plan is yet to be greenlighted by both governments.

The new route was created with a view to buttress integration between South America and the Middle East by working on TAM’s connections in South America and Middle East Airlines’ ties with the rest of the Arab world.
