More U.S. Airlines Are Flying to Cancun

New vacation airline Sunship1 Airlines will soon begin offering flights to Cancun and four Hawaiian destinations from Chicago-O´Hare and Rockford, Ill. It intends to be a packaged airline of sorts, coupling activities such as snorkeling with hotel accommodations.

Flights from Rockford begin February 17 and from O´Hare on February 18 to Cancun. All-inclusive trips for $599 would include air, hotel, meals and drinks under the Sunship1 Vacations brand name, the company informed.

On the other hand, Apple Vacations increased the frequency of its nonstop charters to Cancun from Buffalo, N.Y.; Richmond, Va.; Nashville; and Washington. In conjunction with the new Cancun service, the operator is offering air-hotel packages at the Oasis America Hotel.

The packages will use the Airbus A-320s of USA3000, Apple´s sister airline. Service from Nashville is provided by Frontier Airlines with departures on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Monday and Friday departures will begin in June from Washington using USA3000 aircraft. Air-inclusive packages will start at $499, while air-only prices start at $99.

Also from the aviation business, Air Canada is opening service to Beijing from Toronto, the first direct link between eastern Canada and mainland China.

It will begin operating four nonstops a week beginning June 2 and be switching aircraft on the Vancouver-Shanghai route from 189-seat 767s to 282-seat A340s due to high demand, beginning June 1.
