Police in San Juan are stepping up their presence in tourist areas to reassure visitors that the areas are safe despite a rising homicide rate in parts of Puerto Rico, according to an ABC News report.
A contingent of 50 officers is expected to join the current 200-member unit to patrol the area from the airport to Old San Juan. Police will be on foot, on horseback, on bikes and all-terrain vehicles as well as speedboats, the report said.
