More Cops to Patrol Puerto Rico Tourist Areas By Gay Nagle Myers (Travel Weekly) Police in San Juan are stepping up their presence in tourist areas to reassure visitors that the areas are safe despite a rising homicide rate in parts of Puerto Rico, according to an ABC News report. A contingent of 50 officers is expected to join the current 200-member unit to patrol the area from the airport to Old San Juan. Police will be on foot, on horseback, on bikes and all-terrain vehicles as well as speedboats, the report said.
