More Than 3000 Lifeguards to Work in Bulgaria's Coastal Resorts this Summer
At least 3000 lifeguards will be responsible for the security of tourists in Bulgaria's coastal resorts during summer season 2007. Nearly 12000 lifeguards underwent training in 2006. Out of them 300 will work at seaside beaches and the rest will be responsible for swimming pools in the resorts.
The number of lifeguards to be employed this summer depends on the number of pools that will be functioning and on the number of beaches. Swimming in all water basins that are not under lifeguard supervision will be prohibited.
Some problems will appear in the beginning of the season since the majority of lifeguards are young and lack experience. A number of them still study and will have exams in the beginning of the season, which can lead to staff shortage.
