Montserrat Tourist Board Hosts Tourism Skills Training Courses

The Montserrat Tourist Board is providing free tourism skills training courses to all staff working in the industry, particularly those working in the sectors of ac com modations, restaurants and tour operations.
This program is part of the Tourism Development Projects Phase II, funded by the United Kingdom ’s Department for International Development (DFID) and the European Union. The present initiative follows the recent tourism audit by a Caribbean Development Bank consultant that identified areas for training.
The training in the areas identified is being facilitated by instructors provided by the Caribbean Development Bank under their Caribbean Technological Consultancy Services Network (CTCS).
The courses will focus on three areas:
• Guest Relations (including Communication Skills, Protocol Awareness, Image Building and Self-Esteem) facilitated by Rosemary Lucas-Reifer from May 11 to May 15 between the hours of 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• Food and Beverage Service (including restaurant service and basic bar operations) facilitated by Rosemary Lucas-Reifer from May 18 to May 22 between the hours of 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• Basic Food Preparation (including food safety) facilitated by Chef Carl Rice from May 25 to May 29 between the hours of 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
