Montpelier Plantation Highlights Nevis History

Nevis’ Montpelier Plantation Inn is highlighting the island’s history and culture in “Heritage Week.” The “Heritage Week” begins with a gourmet welcome dinner in Montpelier’s authentic 18th century sugar mill. From there participants are whisked on an in-depth, six-day journey into the island’s past.

Among the sites that will be explored are historic sugar plantations, an old estate that’s rumored to be haunted, a 17th century fort built to protect the island from invaders, Nevis’ capital city Charlestown, an archaeological dig at Bush Hill, the Nelson Museum (which contains artifacts and information about the famous British Admiral’s role in Nevisian history).

Further, a full day will be spent on neighboring St. Kitts dedicated to visiting additional sites such as sugar estate ruins, a batik workshop and the Brimstone Hill fortress, which is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Montpelier Plantation Inn is a 17-room boutique retreat and Relais & Chateaux member.

The “Heritage Week” offer is valid exclusively for seven nights from Sunday, October 21 through Sunday, October 29 and is priced at $6,164 based on double occupancy ($5,164 for single occupancy) and includes accommodations for seven nights, all meals, drinks and snacks at Montpelier, collateral material, expert island guides, entry fees to all attractions on the itinerary and ground transportation on Nevis including the ferry to and from St. Kitts and all taxes and service charges.
