Millions of Argentineans Set to Visit Buenos Aires’s Jerusalem

In the course of six years, some 2.5 million Argentineans have visited the Promised Land, the world’s only religious theme park that recreates biblical sites described in the New Testament.

The park is a replica of Old Jerusalem and takes visitors back in time to a virtual trip to Palestine, where they can relive the history of Jesus Christ from his birth to his resurrection. The park is dotted with stone houses, ancient temples and dirt floors.

The only tokens of modernity are in the hands and feet of guides: two-way radios, Nike sneakers and watches that put quite a match with their old-timed garments and tunics.

The whole trip tees off in a long tunnel and ends with a show of lights and sounds in which mechanical figures represent the characters that witnessed the birth of Jesus, including the Three Magi, Mary, Joseph, the shepherd and his sheep.

The three-hour-long journey –guide included- makes a grand tour around scattered synagogues and mosques, and even gives visitors a chance to see a replica of Jerusalem’s Wailing Wall.

The entire tour is divided in 37 passages, beginning with an in-depth look into the history of the Jewish people all the way to Jesus’ resurrection. The crucifixion is represented by a 46-foot-tall figure lit by 2,500 decorative lights.
