Miami Man Charged in Assault, Rape of Tourist

A 19-year-old Miami man with a long police record and the nickname “Bam-bam” has been arrested in connection with the vicious sexual assault on a tourist couple in town for a Caribbean carnival.

Wayne Proctor, picked up Friday, has been charged with armed sexual battery, armed kidnapping and robbery with a firearm, according to Miami Police Department.

The couple, that lives in the Caribbean, was getting into the car on Biscayne Boulevard in downtown Miami about 1:15 a.m. October 8 when a man approached, robbed them of $60 and forced them to drive around town while he looked for other victims. He raped the woman in the back seat while the man drove, police said.

The assailant later robbed three other people at gunpoint, local law enforcement officers said.

Police said that Proctor has been arrested 21 times since he was 14 years old. Most of the charges involved theft and burglary. Proctor was free on bond following a recent burglary arrest.
