Bringing in Spanish-speaking U.S. residents is the goal behind a new program entitled Our Mexico implemented by the Mexican Council of Tourism Promotion with a view to achieve a 50 percent increase in the number of foreign travellers and jack up revenues that have peaked $8.3 billion so far this year.

The promotional scheme was crafted on the basis of 8.9 million Mexicans and 14.4 million Mexican-Americans living in the United States, a figure that accounts for 8 percent of the country’s total population.

According to the U.S. census, Hispanic population in America has climbed 50 percent in the past five years for a grand total of 38.8 million Latinos.

The plan’s objective is to spur up interest in Mexico and learn more about those people’s roots, a reason that explains why cultural travels and sun-and-beach tourism will be hyped the most.

The whole Project zeroes in chiefly on Mexico City and ten other states (Guanajuato, Guerrero, Tampico, Mexico State, Michoacan, Oaxaca and Puebla, as well as San Luis de Potosi, Sinaloa and Zacatecas, the three regions where most Mexican immigrants to the U.S. hail from.
