Mexican Airline Volaris Expands into U.S.

This month, the Mexican Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) published the domestic traffic report stating that Volaris is again the third airline in the country in terms of the number of passengers transported, the fourth largest airline in Mexico in terms of the number of flights, and the second in terms of the number of seat miles.
With 21 markets served in Mexico, Volaris will continue to grow by launching service into the U.S. Daily flights will soon be in place from Los Angeles and San Francisco to both Toluca and Guadalajara.
Volaris has also formed a commercial alliance with Southwest Airlines by which Volaris will have a presence on Southwest’s website, http://www.southwest.com/, which will be used as a distribution channel for Volaris flights to and within Mexico.
Through this service, Southwest Airline customers will be able to purchase local and international Volaris flights directly through the Southwest website. By 2013, Volaris plans to fly to approximately 12 international destinations.
In the meantime, flights will depart daily from Los Angeles to Toluca at 9:45 a.m., arriving at 3:25 p.m. Flights from Toluca to Los Angeles will depart at 11 a.m. and arrive at 12:45 p.m. Daily service from Los Angeles to Guadalajara will depart at 2 p.m. and arrive at 7:10 p.m. while the return will depart Guadalajara at 9:30 p.m. and arrive at 10:45 p.m.
From San Francisco, flights to Toluca will leave daily at 12:30 a.m. and arrive at 6:50 a.m. while flights from Toluca will depart at 9:30 p.m. and arrive in San Francisco at 11:55 p.m. Daily service leaving San Francisco for Guadalajara will depart at 1 a.m. and arrive at 6:50 a.m. while daily flights from Guadalajara to San Francisco will leave at 9 p.m. and arrive at 10:55 p.m. These flights will be available at three different price points.
