Malev, Iberia Sign Codeshare Agreement
In the wake of the commercial agreement concluded with American Airlines, Malev´s latest move in the Oneworld accession process was the signing of a multi-flight codeshare agreement with Spanish airline Iberia.
From April 2006, several flights operated by the two airlines will be recoded with Malev/Iberia flight numbers, and in so doing both airlines increase the range of connections they can offer to cities in Europe.
The agreement makes it considerably easier for customers of both airlines to make bookings and travel on flights of the other airline.
The commercial arrangement extends across the scheduled network of the Hungarian and Spanish carriers, increasing load factors for both companies.
The agreement will also improve services between Hungary and Spain. From the beginning of April, Iberia flight numbers will be added to the Budapest–Madrid and Budapest–Malaga flights operated by Malev.
An additional benefit for customers of both Malev and Iberia is that frequent flyer points will be awarded and redeemable on scheduled flights of the other airline.
