Malev launches its fifth route to Romania as its summer timetable comes into force (29 March 2009). In total, the Hungarian national carrier operates scheduled services to five cities in the neighboring country including Bucharest, Cluj, Timisoara and Tirgu Mures. Its latest route, Iasi, opens 30 March 2009.

Malev is unique among foreign airlines in the importance it places on servicing Romanian destinations. In fact, with the additional services starting today, the national carrier connects Hungary and five destinations in Romania via 55 scheduled flights a week which, given its extremely convenient connections via its Budapest hub, presents travelers with a direct link with Western as well as Eastern Europe.

Flights depart London Heathrow via Budapest to Iasi 5 times a week until the end of May, then 6 times weekly throughout the summer. The flight arrival in Budapest is timed to integrate with the airline’s departure to Iasi ensuring passengers an excellent connection.
