Madrid Hotel Honored by Eco Scheme

The Gran Hotel Conde Duque in Madrid -a member of WORLDHOTELS’ First Class collection- has been honored by EMAS, the Eco-Management Audit Scheme.

The scheme is a voluntary initiative designed to improve companies’ environmental performance. The aim is to recognize and reward those organizations that go above and beyond the minimum legal compliance and continuously improve their environmental performance.

The hotel, located in central Madrid with proximity to Gran Via, Plaza de España, Colon Square and Paseo Castellana, has been awarded on the grounds of several of its actions and initiatives.

These include the creation and implementation of an environmental management system, which measures the continuous participation and education of all hotel staff.

Having created a manual of best environmental practices, replaced all electrical devices with low consumption versions and established devices to lower water usage by recycling, the emphasis the hotel places on environmental issues is clear.
