Lufthansa Names Jaan Albrecht Chairman, CEO of Austrian Airlines

The Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG has appointed Jaan Albrecht as the new chairman and CEO of the Austrian Airlines.

Together with executive board members Dr. Peter Malanik and Dr. Andreas Bierwirth, Albrecht is to continue the efforts to make Austrian Airlines both competitive and profitable, and integrate the company sustainably and successfully in the Lufthansa Airline Group.

Albrecht has been chief executive officer of Star Alliance Services GmbH for 10 years. Albrecht began his career in the airline business as a pilot at Mexicana Airlines in 1973.
