Lower Passport Fees for British Citizens Living Overseas

Starting Monday April 7, British citizens living overseas will benefit from lower passport fees. In a statement, Britain’s immigration and security minister James Brokenshire indicated that the cost for individuals applying for British passports from outside of the UK will be reduced by £45 for adults and £28.50 for children.

The new fees are as follows: an adult 32-page passport will cost £83; a 32-page passport for a child will be £53; and a jumbo 48-page passport will cost £91 (child and adult).

In the ministerial statement, Brokenshire stated that this reduction comes as a result of efficiency savings made over the last three years by bringing back the processing and issuing of overseas passports to the UK, whilst maintaining the highest levels of security and customer service.

This reduction follows the 2012 decrease in fees by £5 for all UK citizens applying within the UK.
