Low Occupancies Force Temporary Closure of Jamaica Hotel

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has temporarily closed its 366-room Rose Hall Beach Hotel in the Rose Hall area of Montego Bay, Jamaica. Low occupancies were behind the decision to temporarily shutter the property, which opened in June 2008.

It is part of the Rose Hall Beach & Spa Resort complex, which includes the 319-unit Rose Hall Suites and the 295-suite, adults-only Grand Hotel Rose Hall. Rose Hall Beach Hotel will reopen in time for the peak season (mid-December to mid-April), according to Philip Hofer, managing director.

Prior to the reopening, guests booked into Rose Hall Beach after Sept. 1 will be upgraded to the Rose Hall Suites property at no additional cost. Guests already booked at Rose Hall Suites will be upgraded to an oceanfront junior suite, while guests without children who are booked into an oceanfront junior suite will be moved to the Grand Hotel.

Hofer said that Iberostar employees at the Rose Hall Beach Hotel will be compensated fairly, according to Jamaican law. The Rose Hall Suites opened last October, followed by the Grand Hotel Rose Hall in January of this year.
