Los Cabos International Airport May Reopen to Commercial Flights in Early October

Los Cabos International Airport, which was severely damaged by Hurricane Odile when it struck the resort destination on September 14, may reopen to commercial flights as early as October 8, Los Angeles Times reports.

Right now, the airport is only accepting emergency supply planes and evacuation flights while it repairs from the storm, which tore the roof off one terminal and caused ceiling panels to fall in another. The buildings "still need work" before the airport can reopen to passengers.

The story also notes that the Esperanza Resort will be closed until (at least) November 15 due to damage. The Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort is closed "until further notice."

In happier news, Casa Dorada Los Cabos Resort & Spa is expecting to reopen on October 9, and expects to be "100 percent operational" by then. The resort only sustained "minor damage" in the hurricane, according to a statement, so the hotel team expects all services to be functional by early October.

In addition, the statement said that "all water sports and activities will be available on Medano Beach and most tourist-related businesses are scheduled to reopen in early to mid-October with many restaurants already back in business."
