Libraries Are Always Useful

“Libraries are always useful, especially if the books are read in the precise moment”, those were the words of Yunier Riquenes, coordinator of the Claustrofobias literary project, during the launch of Tenth Anniversary multimedia, dedicated to students.

Riquenes pointed out that this digital library aims at giving new generations a way to foster reading, easy access for all users as its format is simple and can be enjoyed on any electronic device, tablets and computes.

Furthermore, with the support of JML (Jose Marti Libraries), we are looking forward to reaching out to all Cuban schools by following the premise that readers of early ages should get to know the most important works of universal literature and use this multimedia as an educational tool, he said.

The multimedia includes 200 digital titles for school libraries in Cuba, which range from universal literature to novels, theater, history and philosophy, dictionaries, encyclopedias and much more. 

Some of the classic books on the list are José Martí’s Abdala and El Camarón Encantado, in terms of children literature, and the section targeting young people and adults includes such titles as Crónicas de una muerte anunciada and Del amor y otros demonios, by Gabriel García Márquez.

Osvaldo Pérez Pérez, chief of creation at the National Council of JML, said that this multimedia, in only 500 gigabytes, represents a source that encourages and cultivates reading for all spaces and ages.

This tool will not only be available in educational centers throughout the country, but culture houses will take it stage plays, literary workshops and courses.
