Larry Pimentel Named President & CEO of Azamara Cruises

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCCL) named Larry Pimentel to the newly created post of president and chief executive officer of Azamara Cruises. Mr. Pimentel, who left as president and CEO of SeaDream Yacht Club in January, will have responsibility for the strategic direction and leadership of Azamara to ensure its continuous growth and success.

He will report directly to Richard Fain, chairman and chief executive officer of RCCL. The line previously had been overseen by Dan Hanrahan, president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises.

Mr. Pimentel recently sailed on an Azamara cruise at the Fain’s request and is said to have written a report on the line. One source close to Pimentel told Travel Pulse that Pimentel’s report recommended the line be recast as a true luxury cruise experience competing with Crystal, Regent Seven Seas, Seabourn, SeaDream and Silversea.

Pimentel has more than 25 years of travel industry experience catering to the high-end consumer. Most recently, he served as president, CEO and co-owner of SeaDream, designed to provide an intimate luxury yachting experience on itineraries primarily in the Caribbean and Mediterranean.
