LAN Airlines Voted Best South American Carrier
LAN Airlines has once again been voted the best airline in South America. The award was recently presented to the airline by the Airports Council International-Latin America and Caribbean (ACI-LAC), which singled out the top operators in the region on the basis of factors such as service, capacity, on-time ratings, efficiency and compliance with regulations and procedures.
More than 200 airline industry leaders attended the award ceremony along with representatives of the highest civil aviation authorities in Latin America and the Caribbean.
“It is a great honor to receive this distinction, which highlights LAN´s levels of service, safety, efficiency and punctuality,” stated Ignacio Cueto, Chief Executive Officer of LAN Airlines´ passenger division.
ACI-LAC has 55 members operating over 200 airports in 36 countries and territories of the Latin America and Caribbean region. In 2003, ACI members around the world handled 3.5 billion passengers, 70.4 million metric tons of freight and 66.4 million aircraft movements.
The LAN service alliance´s vast route network reaches a large number of destinations throughout the world, including the Americas, Europe, Asia and the South Pacific. The alliance offers non-stop and direct flights from North America to Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela with service from 29 North American cities, including daily flights from its Miami, New York and Los Angeles gateways.
