According to a survey conducted by El Dorado Spa Resorts & Hotels and Azul Hotels by Karisma, 96 percent of guests traveling to areas such as Riviera Maya report feeling comfortable and completely safe during their vacations whereas 100 percent of guests felt safe while on-site at the destination’s resorts.

The survey questioned 431 individuals who visited Riviera Maya during March 2009. Furthermore, only 4 percent of guests felt moderately safe traveling in areas outside of the resorts, while less than 1 percent of guests did not feel safe leaving the resort.

The survey also concluded 87 percent of visitors were aware of recent news reports of violence in Mexico prior to traveling and continued plans as normal. Finally, after having visited, 84 percent of guests felt media reports did not reflect the overall climate and safety of Riviera Maya.

El Dorado Spa Resorts & Hotels and Azul Hotels by Karisma’s guest survey is the most recent in a series of initiatives launched towards re-building confidence in travel to Mexico.
