Jazz Festival in Cuban tourist circuit
Jazz buffs will huddle in the Cuban destination of Jardines del Rey to attend the Coco Fest or Party of the Cuban Arts that will come to an end on June 26.
As part of the festivities to mark the tenth anniversary of this tourist destination, the festival will gather such top performers as Chucho Valdes, Giraldo Piloto and his Klymax Band, El Greco and Top Secret, Pablo Menendez and the Mexcla Band, Bobby Carcases, Bellita and her Jazztumbata, and the Tres de La Habana.
Other attendants include musicians, jazz researchers from several countries and Cuban fine artists who intend to leave their creative footprints at the El Senador hotel compound, the festival’s main venue.
As part of the celebration, planners organized the Habanos-El Senador Dinner, a once-in-a-lifetime gala where several humidors were sold under the gavel and featured a contest of cigar hand-rollers, plus the special presentation of cigars under the Cohiba, Partagas and Robaina brands.
The Jazz Festival kicked off last June 1 as part of the destination’s initiatives aimed at promoting the values of the Cuban arts and drawing in new tourist segments to the island nation.
