The Jamaican Destination of Port Antonio Debuts a Web Portal

Designed to promote the small port city and its surrounding region as The Other Side of Jamaica, the resort area of Port Antonio has launched its long-expected official destination Web site at www.portantoniotravel.com.

The site includes information on history and culture; accommodations, activities and attractions; travel tips, and dining options; as well as facts about the destination, and general information about Jamaica, according to officials.

The site also stresses the commitment in Port Antonio -- which has launched a campaign to earn Green Globe certification -- to ecology and sustainable tourism. The area, on Jamaica´s northeast coast, is distinguished by small and/or historic hotels and resorts in contrast to the huge, all-inclusive properties found in Negril, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios.

The interactive site features an online booking function for vacation packages and accommodations; an interactive map; and virtual tours of properties and attractions.
