Jamaica Names Josef Forstmayr to Head Special Tourism Task Force
Jamaica’s Ministry of Tourism named Josef Forstmayr chairman of a special tourism competitiveness task force designed to find “meaningful and creative solutions” to “significant challenges facing the hospitality sector,” said Edmund Bartlett, Jamaica’s tourism minister.” Forstmayr is president of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) and managing director of Montego Bay’s Round Hill Hotel and Villas.
The task force “will address challenges relating to the ground transportation sector, visa approval, information flow, upgrading of the product, and bureaucratic red-tape which affect development,” Bartlett added. The full task force membership will be named shortly and will “look at the new and emerging markets which Jamaica is targeting and create programs exclusively for these visitors,” said Bartlett.
