InterContinental Signs Deal to Manage Half a Dozen Hotels in China

The InterContinental Hotels Group has signed contracts to manage six new hotels, representing more than 4,500 rooms in China.

Chengdu International Exhibition & Convention Group is the owner of all six hotels, which are located in Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou in China´s Sichuan province.

The six hotels will include two InterContinental-branded properties, three Holiday Inns and one Express by Holiday Inn. The properties are all expected to open in 2006 and 2007.

“Developing hotels in China lies at the heart of our growth strategy for IHG,” said Andrew Cosslett, IHG´s chief executive during the recent contract signing ceremony in Chengdu. “This deal marks a major milestone as we move towards meeting our aggressive growth plans and we remain fully committed to maintaining our position as the leading hotel company in China.”
