Iberostar Resorts & Hotels Assess Damages After Hurricane Emily

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts along the Riviera Maya in Mexico´s Yucatan Peninsula sustained some damage as a result of Hurricane Emily.

Guests who did not vacate the four resorts in the Playa Paraiso complex along the Riviera Maya and the two properties in Playacar near Playa del Carmen were housed in the convention center or the resorts´ nightclubs and were never without electricity or water, even at the height of the storm.

Iberostar Tucan & Iberostar Quetzal resorts in Playacar have all their basic services, including water and electricity up and running. There is some damage in the gardens and the hotel staff is working vigorously to remove fallen branches and debris.

At the Iberostar Playa Paraiso Resorts, Iberostar Paraiso Beach, Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar, Paraiso Lindo and Paraiso Maya, all basic services, including water supply and electricity are working well.

There was some damage in the gardens and the hotel staff is working quickly to remove fallen branches and debris. Normal operation should be reached by the end of the week.

Some of the specialty restaurants at the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo sustained minor damage and will be closed while the palapas are repaired. Dining services will be provided in the convention center and at the other restaurants in the complex.

The island of Cozumel suffered more damage from the brunt of the storm than the mainland and the destination, in general, will take longer to recover from the effects of Hurricane Emily on the infrastructure of the island´s operations.
