Iberia to Charge Passengers for In-flight Meals

Beginning on March 1, the free-of-charge menus served onboard Iberia’s domestic and European flights will be replaced by pay-as-you-go, a-la-carte food. The new measure will only be applied in commercial class, so intercontinental fliers and first-class passengers won’t be affected by this controversial regulation.

On the other hand, Iberia’s other two major competitors in Spain are keeping a different stance. Spanair, for instance, is not considering “for the time being” to implement this kind of service. Air Europa, however, has been charging passengers for in-flight helpings for several months.
