Iberia, Avianca Go Codeshare on September 20

A new codeshare flight between Spain’s Iberia Airlines and Colombia-based Avianca Airways –beginning on September 20- will allow passengers from both countries to travel either way with just one plane ticket in hand.

The announcement was made by the Colombian air company in a press release and states that from now on Avianca’s customers could use Iberia to fly to Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante and to the French capital.

In return, European travelers aboard Iberia flights could land in Bogota through Avianca’s hubs in Cartagena, Medellin, Cali and Pereira.

The only-one-plane-ticket option renders in less connection time, the elimination of multiple customs checks and the easing of baggage handling.

The agreement –okayed by aviation authorities in both nations- is another feather in Avianca’s cap, a company that has similar codeshare accords with Delta Airlines, Mexicana de Aviacion and the Taca Group.
