Iberia´s Winter Season Increases Seat Supply By 10.4%

For the winter season beginning on Sunday, October 26, Spain´s Iberia Airlines is lifting seat-kilometre supply by 10.2% from the level of last winter. The largest increases are on intercontinental routes, up 15.2%, followed by intra-European routes (+7.1%), and domestic flights (+4.3%). Here follow the key innovations this season, in relation to last winter:

There are more flights to Mexico City, Caracas, and Santiago de Chile. The number of flights from Spain to Mexico City is rising from nine to eleven, and several will be made in Iberia´s new Airbus 340-600s. One additional weekly flight will be offered to both Santiago de Chile and Caracas, raising the total to seven non-stop flights per week. This will raise to twelve the number of Latin American capital cities to which Iberia makes daily flights.

While the number of flights to Lima, Miami, Santo Domingo and San Juan de Puerto Rico remains unchanged, the supply of seats is to be raised. On the Madrid-Lima route, two of the seven weekly flights will be made in Airbus A340-600s, with 100 more seats than the A340-300s they are replacing.

Iberia´s 404-seat Boeing 747s will now be used for the two daily return flights to Miami, replacing the smaller, 249-seat Airbus 340-300 that was used last winter for the afternoon flight.

Lastly, Iberia will offer separate direct weekend flights to the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, while on weekdays the two Caribbean cities will be served by a single flight to both.
