IB slashes commissions in Spain

Beginning on New Year’s Day, Spanish travel agencies will charge customers extra money for the purchase of Iberia plane tickets. The new return system agreed by both the air carrier’s front office and the management of the Travel Agency Association of Spain also sets step-by-step cutbacks on commissions as follow: 3 percent for the first quarter of 2004, 2 percent for the second quarter, 1.5 percent for the first half of 2005, and a 1 percent fixed rate from July that same year on.
